Treaty of Rome

25, March 1957, the six countries signed the Treaty of Rome, creating the European Economic Community (EEC). Its main purpose was to create a common market and make trade easier among member countries.

The six founding countries that signed the Treaty of Rome in 1957 were:

3. West Germany (now Germany)
4. Italy
5. Luxembourg
6. Netherlands
