Major Syed Ali Raza was a Pakistan Army officer who served with the Special Services Group (SSG).
He was born on September 1, 1992, in Sargodha District, Punjab, Pakistan. He was commissioned through the 132nd PMA Long Course and served with the 12 Punjab Regiment before joining the 1st Commando Battalion of the SSG.
On the night of October 8–9, 2023, an operation was conducted against Tehrik-e-Taliban (TTP) militants in the Sambaza area of Zhob District, Balochistan.
During the operation, an exchange of fire took place between security forces and the militants.
Major Ali Raza and Havaldar Nisar Ahmed, 38, from Vehari, were also killed during the operation.
Major Ali Raza was later posthumously awarded the Tamgha-e-Basalat.
Zhob, which is in the District of Balochistan, belongs to the Pashtun belt.
Zhob is one of the areas associated with the banned militant group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), where the group has maintained a significant presence, particularly in mountainous areas.
