Karim Khalili
Bamiyan was the stronghold of the Shia commander of Hizb-e-Wahdat, Karim Khalili, which had been destroyed by the Taliban. Shia commander Karim Khalili had already fled to Iran the previous night, along with his commanders, by military transport aircraft.
