JNIM repelled Russian patrol with mortar fire in Segou Mali in 2026
Mali JNIM claimed it repelled an Army-Africa Corps patrol with mortar fire east of Diabaly, forcing Army-Africa Corps to flee and leaving behind three vehicles, an armored vehicle, and ammunition and other equipment.

The group JNIM claimed that its fighters used mortar fire against a Russian military patrol east of Djabili, in Mali’s Ségou region, on Saturday evening.
According to the statement, the Russian forces were conducting operations in the area that the group alleged involved abuses against civilians.
The group claimed that the attack forced the Russian soldiers to withdraw, leaving behind three vehicles, including one armored vehicle, as well as ammunition and other weapons.
