Visiting the Graves of the Companions of the Prophet (May Allah Be Pleased With Them)
On a hill at Bala Hissar Fort, 72 Companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them) are buried in a simple communal grave. Only the ruins of the fort remain today because the artillery of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s forces destroyed it. Large piles of stones can be seen throughout the area.
The Haji Qadir group of Hizb-e-Islami tricked and captured these fighters and started negotiations with the Pakistani government. The Pakistani government sold the Arabs in exchange for dollars and kept 120 Pakistani fighters in jails in Haripur and Peshawar, who were later released.
It should be remembered that around 200 Arab fighters among those captured started a rebellion when Haji Qadir, a commander paid by the ISI, tried to hand them over to the ISI. As soon as the convoy crossed the Torkham border in buses, the brave Arab fighters rebelled, took weapons from the soldiers, fought their way out, and managed to escape. Most of these Arabs went towards Kurram Agency.
The Shia people there betrayed them and, in groups of four or two, handed them over to the army under the false promise of safe passage. Pervez Musharraf stated proudly in his book that 600–700 Arab fighters had been sold. These Arab fighters were also among them.
