UN sanctions on the Taliban in 1999

The American intervention (interference and conspiracy) once again became an obstacle to Afghanistan’s economic development. In 1999, the United Nations imposed broad sanctions on Afghanistan, using the “continued presence of foreign militants” in the country as an excuse. These sanctions placed economic and trade restrictions on Afghanistan.
