Osama bin laden

The Sheikh inherited his love for religion from his father, Muhammad bin Laden. Like many people of the Arabian Peninsula, his family follows Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal. The Sheikh never studied in Western countries. The reports circulating about this are based on lies and false claims, and there is no truth in them.

Maktab al-Khidamat

In 1980, Sheikh Abdullah Azzam established Maktab al-Khidamat in Peshawar University Town. In 1984, Sheikh Osama established a jihadist group called “Bayt al-Ansar.” The Sheikh was their biggest financial supporter. He had rented many guest houses where Arab Mujahideen coming from Arab countries were accommodated and given religious and physical training. In 1989, when Sheikh Abdullah Azzam was killed in a car bombing, the Sheikh emerged as a leading figure among the Arab Mujahideen.

Sheikh Osama’s Services in the Afghan Jihad

The Sheikh personally took part in the Afghan jihad alongside the Mujahideen. On one occasion, when Soviet soldiers were trying to capture him, they came within only 30 meters of him. At the same time, bombing from the air and tank shelling were also taking place. One shell landed very close to him, but it did not explode.

Later, four bombs fell on his camp, but they also failed to explode. The Sheikh was wounded three or four times during the fighting. Once, he was hit by pieces of a bomb, and on another occasion, he was injured after falling from a horse.

Pakistan’s well-known orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Amir Aziz, was also reportedly detained by the ISI and CIA for several months because he treated the Sheikh for several months.

Meanwhile, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein attacked Kuwait. Because of this, the Saudi rulers became frightened and decided to seek help against him from the United Nations, the servant of the infidel world. We opposed this, saying, “O King, we will deal with the Iraqis. Do not allow the impure footsteps of the infidels to take root in this holy land, because if our ancestors did not tolerate their impure footsteps during the time of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, how can we tolerate them?” Ignoring what we said, the King took the step that has remained a burden for all Muslims to this day. Because of my opposition, I was placed under house arrest. But Allah’s people do not remain in cages for long. I was then expelled from Saudi Arabia and went to Khartoum.

Domestic Life and Family Background Sheikh Osama bin Muhammad bin Laden was born on March 10, 1957, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His mother was originally from Syria. Sheikh Osama’s family belonged to Yemen. The coastal province of Hadramaut in southern Yemen is located east of the port of Aden.

Muhammad bin Laden was considered a close friend of King Saud II. When King Faisal came to power, the country was facing a severe economic crisis. Muhammad bin Laden strongly supported the government during this difficult period. According to a report, he paid the salaries of Saudi government employees from his own pocket for six months.

Participation in the Afghan Jihad:

He took guidance from some of the university teachers and came to Karachi.

At first, Osama stayed secretly in Pakistan for one month and carefully observed the situation. Then he returned to Saudi Arabia. There, he campaigned among other Arab sheikhs to help the Mujahideen. Because of his encouragement, thousands of young Arabs went to the field of jihad. He paid their travel expenses and built camps for them. Osama collected large amounts of supplies and money from Saudi Arabia, came to Pakistan, and began participating in jihad alongside his Afghan brothers.

Sheikh Osama’s Mother’s Dream

When Sheikh Osama bin Laden was asked to leave Sudan, he said that he could not go anywhere without his mother’s permission. Then he called his mother, and she said that she would tell him after a few days where he should go.

A few days later, his mother told her son on the phone that she had a dream. In the dream, Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) was sitting on one side and Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) on the other side, while Osama bin Laden was sitting between them. Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) patted Osama and asked Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) where they should send him. Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) replied that they should send him to Afghanistan.

Sheikh Osama in the Jihad Against Russia

In December 1979, the first group of Arab Mujahideen arrived in Peshawar to go to Afghanistan. This group consisted of about 40 people, including young men from the Gulf states and Arab countries of North Africa. After arriving in Peshawar, Sheikh Abdullah Azzam first encouraged the Arab Mujahideen to take part in jihad in an organized way and established their first centers in Peshawar, where the Mujahideen stayed. Organizations were established to help the Mujahideen and other Afghan people. During this period, financial aid also started coming from wealthy parts of the Islamic world to support the Mujahideen and help refugees.

In 1980, Sheikh Azzam established Maktab al-Khidamat in University Town, Peshawar, to organize this work in an organized way. Sheikh Osama was a financial supporter of this office. He had rented many guest houses in Peshawar, where Mujahideen coming from Arab countries stayed and received ideological and physical training.

Sheikh Osama immediately decided to go to Saudi Arabia. From there, the large bulldozers and mountain-breaking machines of the Bin Laden Company, which had previously been used to break mountains for the expansion of the Two Holy Mosques, were transported by ship to the port of Karachi. From there, they were taken to Afghanistan by road. Under his supervision, Sheikh Osama built large caves inside the mountains and began preparing routes for the movement of the Mujahideen.

Since Sheikh was a partner in the Bin Laden Company, he began transporting heavy construction machinery to Afghanistan by C-130 aircraft and ships. The port of Karachi and Peshawar airport were used for this work.
