1998 killing of Iranian diplomats in Afghanistan
Iran’s Shia regime should have a cold war, but this is America’s global war on terrorism. In every era, the Iranian Shia regime has provided and continues to provide financial and human support to its allies, the Northern Alliance and Shia groups in Afghanistan. One of the incidents was the Iranian Shia regime’s embassy in Herat. Iran alleges that the Taliban massacred diplomats of the Iranian Shia regime in Herat. While other countries also have embassies in Afghanistan, nothing like this has happened there. At that time, based on all the information, the people killed by the Taliban at the Iranian Shia regime’s embassy in Herat were Iranian intelligence and Revolutionary Guards. They were providing financial, military and intelligence support to anti-Taliban groups in Afghanistan.
Here, 9 brave men of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (Iranian forces) were also captured. The Taliban killed them immediately. Later, Iran made a great outcry, saying that these were actually our diplomats and that the Taliban had killed ambassadors. In order to maintain the appearance of its diplomacy, Iran brought its army to the Herat border and began making threats about launching a military attack on Afghanistan to take revenge for them.
