The Taliban also fought against Shia forces in Jalrez, Maidan Wardak Province. According to the text, Abdul Ali Mazari, the leader of the Shia group in Afghanistan, was captured by the Taliban on 10 February 1995. The text states that while he was being transported to Kandahar by helicopter, he resisted, and the Taliban guards killed him with a dagger. It further states that his body was later sent to Mazar-i-Sharif.

After the death of Abdul Ali Mazari, the Taliban also drove Hezb-e Islami fighters led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar out of Wardak. As a result, Wardak came under the control of the Islamic Emirate, according to the text.
