Iran Shiite regime supports Taliban opponents

During the fighting, Commander Ismail Turan took all the money from Herat and fled to Iran through the Islam Qala border crossing. According to the text, he escaped to Iran because it was the only place where he could find protection.

Ismail Khan Toran was a famous fighter and was living on support from Iran. During the jihad against the Soviet Union, he was counted among fighters like Ahmad Shah Massoud, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, General Dostum, and Abdul Malik.

Ismail Khan Toran escaped from the Taliban and entered Iran, but Iran sent this “pet fighter” back to fight against the Taliban in order to repay its support. As soon as Ismail Toran returned, he became involved in activities against the Taliban. To continue his efforts and political dealings, he was staying with General Abdul Malik when General Abdul Malik made him a scapegoat.

From Mazar-i-Sharif, the Taliban Mujahideen also arrested 45 Iranian truck drivers along with their trucks, who had brought weapons from Iran for the Northern Alliance. Then all those arrested were imprisoned in Sheberghan Jail.
